Branding, Leeds

Branding for businesses that keep getting lumped in with everyone else.

We're Sam and Rob, a small Leeds studio. We do the branding and the words together, so the business looks like the standard of the work and people finally get what you do.

Sound familiar?

  • How you come acrossOne of three quotes.

What's actually trueThe one they'd pick, if they understood the difference.

  • How you come acrossA logo from when you started out.

What's actually trueA business that's grown up a lot since then.

  • How you come acrossWe do a bit of everything.

What's actually trueThere's one thing you're really good at, and it's getting lost.

Good work. Wrong box.

Most businesses that come to us for branding don't really need a prettier logo. They need people to stop mistaking them for something they're not. A builder doing serious renovations getting asked to quote for fence panels. A specialist being priced against generalists.

That's not a design problem. It's a clarity problem that shows up in the design.

So we start with the thinking: who you're for, what you do better than anyone else, and what you leave alone. Then the identity, the logo and the words get built to say that everywhere, so you're not explaining it from scratch on every call.

What you get

Getting clear first

A proper conversation about the business, the customers and the competition, boiled down to one line everything else gets checked against.

  • Positioning
  • Audience
  • Competitor review

The identity

Logo, colour, typography and how it all fits together. Built to work on a van, a website and a tiny browser tab.

  • Logo
  • Colour and type
  • Brand guidelines

The words

What you say and how you say it. Headlines, key phrases and a tone of voice you'll actually use, not a 40-page deck that gets opened twice.

  • Messaging
  • Tone of voice
  • Key page copy

Rolled out properly

Website, socials, print, signage. We make sure the new brand turns up the same everywhere, rather than living in a PDF.

  • Website
  • Print
  • Social

The honest bit.

A rebrand won't fix a business that isn't sure what it wants to be. That's why the thinking comes first.

And sometimes it turns out the logo was fine all along, and it's the words that need the work. We'll tell you if that's the case.

How it works

  1. 1

    Talk

A short call. You tell us what you do and what the website isn't doing. We tell you straight whether we're the right people for it.

  2. 2

    Dig

Paid discovery, where we get properly under the skin of the business, the customers and the competition. The fee comes off the project if you go ahead.

  3. 3

    Map and Build

We plan the pages, write and design them, and build the site. You see it come together and sign off each stage.

  4. 4

    Grow

Launch isn't the finish line. We watch how people actually use the site and keep improving it.

Some of the brands

Say it properly.

Time to sort the brand out?

Tell us what you do and where it's going wrong. If it's the words rather than the logo (it often is), we'll say so.

It depends on how much you need. A logo refresh is a very different job from a full rebrand with positioning and messaging. You'll get a proper quote after the first chat.

You can, but a logo on its own rarely fixes what people actually come to us about. We'll usually suggest at least a short bit of thinking first, so the logo has something to say.

Yes. The messaging and the key page copy are part of it. If you've got someone in-house who writes, we'll give them the structure and let them run with it.

Yes. All the files, in every format you need, plus guidelines on how to use them.

Yes, and it's usually better when the same people do both. The brand and the site get built to say the same thing.

Depends on the size of the job. A few weeks for a focused rebrand, longer if positioning and messaging are part of it. You'll get a timeline with the quote.
