Challenge

A studio women rave about, run from an Instagram inbox.

Katie Burns started with one small room. She was taking personal training sessions from six in the morning and buying one new piece of kit a week out of her own pocket. Today Burns Female Training is a women-only studio in Middleton, a PT studio in Lofthouse, a bootcamp out at Thorpe Hill Farm, a team of female coaches, a full week of classes and a 4.9 on Google from women who talk about the place the way you'd talk about a friend.

What it didn't have was a website. Every class was filled by hand: a message on Instagram, a reply from Katie, a name on a list, cash on the day. Health forms, welcome packs and questions about parking all went the same way. The more popular the studio got, the more of Katie's day went on admin, and the less of it went on the thing she's actually good at.

There was no shortage of demand. All of it landed on one phone, and the person holding it was also the one coaching the classes.

Goal

Take the booking off her phone. Then give the studio a front door that looks like the place.

The women who come to Burns are mostly women who felt out of place in a normal gym. The site had to speak to them first, and to Google second. One class at a time, no membership, coaches who know your name, and a way to book it that works on a phone at ten o'clock at night.

We'd done the Burns branding back when it was a smaller operation. This time the job was everything around it:

Book one class, pay for one class.

Ten pounds, no membership, no passes, no contract. Pick a class on the timetable, pay by card, turn up. Katie's cash regulars stay on the same list as the online bookings, so nothing changes for the women who've been coming for years.

A timetable that does the booking.

Every class on the week's timetable links straight into the booking form, already set to the right class, coach and venue. Two taps from the timetable to a confirmed place.

Every class with its own name.

Burns Brunchcamp, Burns Build, Burns Beginners, Burns Leg Day, 6AM Club, TNT Tuesdays. Katie's names, in pink, on every card. People say them out loud, which is more than most gyms can claim.

Coaches as people, not a staff list.

Each coach gets her own page, her own enquiry route and her own WhatsApp. One-to-one training is enquiry only, so Katie still decides who trains with whom.

Proof from the women themselves.

Thirty real client stories with photos, in their own words, on a page of their own. Nothing written for them.

The bits the booking software doesn't do.

Every night, Katie and every coach get an email with who's in tomorrow's classes, so nobody is checking a dashboard at six in the morning. Every customer gets a branded confirmation, not the plugin's. We built both.

The boring bits, done properly.

Booking terms you have to tick, a privacy policy that's actually true, health guides for the women who need them, fonts served from the site itself and maps that only load when you tap them. Nobody notices any of it, which is the point.

Dark, pink and built for a phone.

Katie's brief was scrunchie, not frilly. Big type, hot pink on black, photos of real coaches coaching, and every page checked on a phone first because that's where it gets used.

Result

Live on 1 November. The classes book themselves, and the next job is already on the list.

The site went live on 1 November 2026 with every class bookable online and paid for by card, and a confirmation that turns up on its own. The admin that used to fill Katie's inbox now runs without her, which was the whole point.

It's early days, and we'd rather show you a number than promise one. Give it a few months.

What's next is the growth. Burns is already strong on Instagram because Katie is, so the site's job is to catch what Instagram sends and turn it into booked places. The search work comes now: Middleton, Lofthouse, Rothwell, Morley and Garforth, so the women typing "women only gym" into their phones at night find Burns rather than a chain.

Katie built the studio. The website's just there so she can get on with it.
